Media & Training

More than at any time in American history, legislative outcomes, courtroom decisions and government actions are influenced by grassroots efforts that channel critical messages through traditional and social media. Increasingly, public officials monitor local media to gain the public mood on issues. As compromise becomes more difficult to achieve in legislative discussions, decisions on critical matters may depend on the timely editorial in the hometown paper or commentary via Twitter. MediAdvocacy is our unique program delivering tailored and targeted messages that change minds or reinforce positive attitudes that support your strategic objectives. We manage editorial board visits, television opportunities, talk radio and social media outreach to maximize the messages that can change public attitudes and, as a result, move decision-makers.

MediAdvocacy will be with you all along the way, providing the support, personal training and guidance that makes a difference in protecting your organization’s reputation.

IMR's Message & Crisis Communications Training Program is unique within the industry:

  • We tailor the program to fit the specific client issue or issues. Our approach is not simply theoretical. We consult with our clients and identify the specific crisis vulnerablity and create messages to address that vulnerability. You will be trained with messaging that works for you beyond the training studio.
  • Our training is intense. We decided long ago that our clients do not benefit from on-camera, radio or print interview simulations that fail to recreate the pressure and stress that will be experienced in actual crisis situations. As a matter of fact, clients often comment that confronting the media in real life is easier than the training.
  • The training program is a small group exercise. The standard seminar is limited to six participants. Training can be a little as four hours for two participants and up to six hours for the full complement of six.
  • Offered as a program for individuals that we call MediAdvanced. MediAdvanced is especially useful for professional media spokespersons, CEO's and senior managers who have been identified as the primary organization spokesperson. This training regimen not only includes crisis scenarios, but also non-crisis training for talk radio, editorial board simulations and television interviews.
  • No other crisis communications program offers a print media simulation. Recreating audio and video interviews is a matter of having the equipment to replay the experience, but, how do you recreate a newspaper interview? We employ actual newspaper reporters who interview clients and provide feedback on the spot.
